FAQS:

What Is The EARLY RACE?

For an additional $50 to the general entry fees, you can start the race @ 8:30 a.m. and beat the lines!

How Do The Adult Relay Teams Work?
Teams consist of 2 or 3 members and each member needs to pick up their bib. If one person does two events, the person must follow all the transition rules as if you were a solo team member. Teams will have their own designated area inside transition. The timing chip will be used as a baton and needs to be handed off to the participating team member of each race leg. Timing Chip needs to affixed to the left ankle. If one person does two events the person must follow all the transition rules as if a solo. Relay members need to be 13 years old on race day.

What do I need to know about the swim?

Swimmers need to be on deck when their bib numbers are called. All swimmers need to shower before entering the pool area. You may warm up in the warm up pool. You should line up along the outside wall and wait until called forward. There is no circle swimming.  There will be two swimmers per lane.  Racers can use any combination of swim strokes. Lap counters will be provided to assist in keeping track of laps.

How Does The Transition Area Work?

Transition is where you will set up you bike and other racing gear. Transition area is located in the Palmer Pool parking lot.  You will have an assigned transition stall corresponding with your bib number. Each transition spot is approximately 2.5 feet wide and 10 feet long. Transition will be open all day starting at 7:00 am. Only racers with visible bibs and/or those that have been body marked are allowed in the transition area. No spectators will be allowed in the transition area. Please keep ALL PETS at home.

A separate transition area will be provided for racers participating in the kids race. Kids transition area will also open at 7:00 am. Kid racers may be accompanied by one adult in transition. No non-racing siblings will be allowed in the transition area.

How Will We Be Timed?

The Why Not Tri is CHIP TIMED. TIMING CHIP WILL BE GIVEN ON THE POOL DECK ON RACE DAY. There will be a starter on the pool deck who will check in with the you prior to beginning your race. When you are ready, the starter will count down and then record your start time on a keypad. (We will still be using swim cards for back up purposes.) Once the swim portion is finished there will be a timing mat at the door exiting the pool that will record your end swim time, and this will also mark the beginning of Transition 1 split. This means from the time you exit the pool to the time you leave on your bike the clock is still running! Time spent in transition will count towards your final race time. There will be a timing mat at the “Bike Out” which will be the end of the Transition 1 and the beginning of the bike time. After you dismount your bike, the “Run Out” mat will record the end of Transition 2 and the beginning of the run portion. The finish line will record the end of the run and give an overall finish time.

If a racer loses their chip somewhere between their swim and the end of their event, split times will only be estimated. Racers will still receive a finish time.

How do I Wear My Bib?

Racer bibs need to worn visibly in the front and can be pinned to a shirt or on a racing belt. Wearing the bib is optional during the bike portion but needs to be worn during the run. Bike tags will also be given at bib pick up. The bike tag is self-adhesive and can be placed on the top tube frame or the seat post of your bike.

Can I have a bag with belongings in the transition area?

Yes, you can bring a bag with anything that you might need for your transitions: clothes, water bottle, shoes, towel, etc. Some people use a bucket to carry everything they need and then also use the bucket as a "chair", while changing shoes. Other racers choose to sit on their towel. It is up to you!  But remember you are being timed, so hurry through transition!

Redline and The Why Not Tri are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Where Are Results Posted?

There will be unofficial results from Skinny Raven Events & Timing at the finish area. You will be able to look up your final time and race splits immediately following your finish. Official results will be posted on our website following the event and emailed to race participants. Any questions or disputes regarding results can be emailed to  timing@skinnyraven.com for up to a week post event.

Will There Be Aid Stations?

There will be an aid station and a portable bathroom at mile 1.5 on the Run Course.  Food and water will be provided for racers at the finish line.
